Ronnie sat
in a white metallic room, his eyes looked sore, blotchy and the bags under his
eyes were as dark as bruises. He no longer gave off any erratic energy. His
eyes reflected a melancholic voice stretching out into the room. Then it
finally hit him, he's never going to hear Will’s sharp, flamboyant, and girlish
voice again. His eyes got watery again. He starts to remember the first time
Ronnie walked into a gay bar, it was Will who pushed him to muster up the
courage to walk in there and talk to a guy at the bar. He was so brave, Will.
He also helped Ronnie come out to his parents. Ronnie invited Will over for
dinner and during the supper Ronnie couldn't muster up the courage to tell them
when Will suddenly burst out with “He’s Gay okay! He likes dick! And he’s proud
of it so get over it!” Ronnie was so embarrassed he almost denied it but alas
his parents looked at him and then at Will again. They didn’t care, they knew
the minute Will walked through the front. His parents love Will. Every time he
would come home from college his parents drilled him “How’s Will?” “What’s Will
doing?”
He came
through to the realization that he truly did admire and love Will for who he
was, he was even jealous of him, even though Will would always say he wishes he
could have Ronnie’s “babydoll face”. Will was so tough, nothing or no one could
ever break him or even whither his spirit, criticism was no enemy of his, he
took no bullying from no one and he never came out a loser. He was Iron Will,
as Ronnie called him.
His eyes
started to squint again as tear rushed down his face again. How could Will,
Iron Will, have been broken? He couldn’t stand to think that someone as strong
willed as him would be killed and his guts spilled all over his nice rouge
carpet. It infuriated him. He thought of how everyone would brush off his death
like last week’s news, “oh he was just a silly old drag queen, he won’t be
missed”. The thoughts manifested and again the malice started spreading through
him. He banged the metal table with his palm.
Suddenly
Teddy comes in through the door and sees Ronnie destroyed upon the table.
Ronnie looks up and nearly jumps toward him, embracing him as he does and
begins bawling like little girl.
“Oh Teddy…
Will-“
“I
know…shh…Its okay” Teddy embraced him stronger than ever as he could already
feel his tears beneath his War Cry t-shirt.
“You don’t
know how much hatred I feel right now!” he spoke fervently as his saliva mixed
in with his tears. He looked awful. Teddy didn’t know how to respond to that,
aside from hugging an petting him, Teddy had no idea how to deal with this
situation.
“I’m gonna
hunt them Teddy. Theyre gonna pay… It just can’t stay like this!” His shoulders
quivered and shook as he squeezed more tears out. Teddy felt pain as Ronnie’s
hand clutched him wanting to turn into a fist.
Kessler sat
in the interrogation room along with Petrovsky by his side and on the side
opposite was Megan Summers along with Reverend James and a sketchy looking
lawyer. The room was quite dark and dim with a single lamp hanging from the
ceiling, barely enough to illuminate their faces.
“As
secretary of the Christ Crusade Club, what are your duties?”
“I record
the club activities and keeps tabs on all of the meetings”
“So you
never had contact with William?”
“no,
sir”
“You didn’t
take part in the events of November 12th of last year when the crusaders were caught on camera pelting
tomatoes at William during one of his performances?”
“no sir”
“Are you
aware that your club has in the past prevented the GSA, which Will was part of,
to perform several important club functions like meetings and fundraisers?”
“Uh, yes …
but I don’t agree with what they do, im not at all against gays, im not like
most of us at the club!” Kessler glared at he, then realized she was telling
the truth.
“Thank you
Megan, you can leave. Send in Regina Webber” Megan gets up from her seat,
shaking almost, she was afraid.
“Can’t get
anything out of them the way you wanted to detective?” teased Reverend James.
Kessler said nothing as Regina Webber walked into the room and sat down.
Kessler wasted no time.
“Regina, there
are several witnesses who claim to have heard you say homophobic remarks-“
“What is
this Detective Kessler? Are you trying to give my student a lesson in morals?”
“Remarks
like ‘faggots are the causes of world hunger and obesity’ and “Gay people
always have diarrhea and are ugly fucktards’ do you confirm that you’ve said
such comments?”
“Don’t
answer that question!” Reverend James said as he glared at Kessler.
“Don’t
answer any more questions-“
“May I
remind you Reverend that any obstruction with this investigation will-“
“That’s fine
Petrovsky. She wasn’t going to say anything anyway” Kessler looked at Regina’s
deviant face, it was full of hatred and despise but no guilt. He kind of gave
him a chill, he could sense she was evil.
“Send in
Olivia Freeman”
Olivia
walked in. Her blonde hair perfectly teased and draped down, she was wearing a
white conceptual blazer. Olivia never missed an opportunity to look fashionable,
despite her disgusting personality; fashion was her one good redeeming quality.
“Olivia,
were you or were you not the one who told Bradley Haynes ‘To let that fag have
it’ that night that Shawn Roach-“
“First of
all if this is about that fag who died, then all I have to say is that he
deserved everything he got! And that no one from our club was involved with his
death! We’re a good club, we promote God’s words to the-“
“Olivia!!”
“No! Im
gonna say this! That faggot deserved to die but we had nothing to do with it!
And you can’t keep us here!” Olivia stood up and stormed out of the room.
Kessler was really tarted to get intimidated by this group, if this was how the
females behaved he could only imagine the worst from the males.
Shawn walked
in still wearing his motorcycle gloves. Kessler noticed something off, he was
an expert at detecting emotion, he could perceive it almost immediately. Shawn
was nervous.
“Shawn, you
previously tried to attack Will, right?”
“Yes, but
Bradley stopped me”
“Yes, I’m
aware that he also spoke something to you in a whisper in order to calm you
down, what was it?”
“Don’t
answer that” Said Reverend James
“He just
told me that, uh, that he wasn’t worth it you know? Fags like him always get
what they deserve, and he said that God will punish him. And as you see, he
did” Reverend James sat back in his chair, pleased with his answer. Kessler and
Petrovsky looked at each other. He knew he was lying through his teeth, he
couldn’t trump with with what minimal evidence he had.
“Is this
going to take longer? I have an exam today”
“No, you can
go. Bring in Bradley Haynes”
The second
Bradley Haynes walked into the room, Kessler was obligated to analyze him, he
had on the most ambiguous poker face. He could read nothing off of him. He was
wearing a plain white t-shirt and jeans. the only thing he could pick up was
his muscles, this guy was strong, strong enough to shove a skull clean through
a 6-inch opening. There he was suspect # 1. Kessler felt no need to drag this
on.
“Bradley, where
were you last night between the hours of 7 and 10?”
Bradley was
trumped. He immediately started to think about what he was doing last night.
He pictured
Jane’s long red hair covering her sweet, supple breasts, he could taste them,
hold them in his hand, her white skin gliding against his, contorting her body
to his every whim, the scent of her body sweat still fresh on his lips. He
stared until he finally responded.
“I was with
my girlfriend Olivia. Date night we went to the cinema, then we went downtown,
if you know what I mean”
Kessler
already knew he was lying. He immediately thought of calling Olivia in to
confirm but it was obvious she would cover for him. he could see the direction
which this case was going to go. Without solid evidence, there was nothing.
Kessler
exited the interrogation room. Through the glass wall he saw Olivia embrace a
blond figure wearing a two piece suit. He had such character, Jeremiah, as he
held his cousin.
Kessler
makes his way into the white holding room with Ronnie and Teddy. Ronnie jumped
up as soon as he came in.
“What
happened?!” Kessler shook his head.
“This
investigation is going to take longer than expected, without proper evidence we
cant take any of them to court”
“Detective,
I remembered something important. Something about Will, I promised him I wouldn’t
tell anyone but now I see that I have to… Will was blackmailing someone.
Someone in the crusaders, Enrique Machado”
